Mathews & Associates Inc. is engineer for an approximately 48-mile Intelligence Transportation System project on Interstate 70 in Missouri Department of Transportation's District 6. The stretch of the interstate involved stretches from downtown St. Louis to St. Charles County. MAI is a subconsultant with the firm HNTB for the project, which involves designing field devices, including CCTV, dynamic message boards, fiber-optic communications media and vehicle detection. The construction of the improvements will occur in two phases, beginning in fiscal year 2004 and ending in fiscal year 2005. The estimated construction cost is $14 million. MAI's duties include development of traffic control plans, bid review and recommendations, and project support and administration.
