Richard McMillian, PE, and Tom Hancock, PE, of Hood-Rich Inc. are engineers for the $2.5 million sanitary sewer system for Bakersfield in Ozark County. Kennedy Contractors is the general contractor for the wastewater treatment facility with MLS Underground handling the sewer lines. The project includes construction of approximately 27,300 lineal feet of 8-inch diameter gravity sewer, 18,850 lineal feet of 4-inch service line, 6,400 lineal feet of 1.25-, 2- and 3-inch pressure sewer, five-simplex submersible grinder pump stations, one-duplex submersible grinder pump station, one submersible nonclog pump station and a wastewater treatment facility that comprises a head works structure with screening, a multicompartment septic tank, a dosing tank with three submersible dosing pumps and three intermittent/recirculating sand filter cells, including associated process piping and electrical systems. The project is under construction with completion expected in spring 2004. The project is funded through revenue bonds, grants from U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development, Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Missouri Department of Economic Development's Block Grant Program.
