Famous Dave's franchisee assumes Big Cedar restaurant operations

A Famous Dave’s franchisee is now handling food and beverage operations at Big Cedar Lodge.

Dave Jones said his team in June took over the franchises for two Famous Dave's restaurants at Big Cedar. Noting the franchises previously were owned by the Ridgedale resort, he declined to disclose financial terms of the deal.

"Anything that is golf related, we take care of the food and beverage side on all courses," he said. "They felt like our brand complements them well."

Jones said his Famous Dave's franchise business handles food operations at Mountain Top Grill, which overlooks courses including the newly opened Payne's Valley. Yesterday was the official start of play for the public at the course after a Sept. 22 match was held between Tiger Woods, who designed it, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose.

“Just based off of yesterday, it's going to be amazing," he said of the "national exposure" the course would bring to Big Cedar, the Ridgedale area and Famous Dave's.

Jones also took over a restaurant at Big Cedar's Long Creek Marina, as well as multiple kiosks, he said.

With the two new restaurants at Big Cedar, Jones has seven Famous Dave's eateries in Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska.

Jones owns a nearby location of Famous Dave's at Branson Landing. He said he recently purchased a former Rib Crib building on the 76 Strip and would be relocating the Branson restaurant to that location next year.

"There's too many restaurants at the Landing," he said, noting the restaurant has been located at the development for 15 years.
