Family Pharmacy relocating corporate headquarters

Posted online
Ozark-based Family Pharmacy Inc. tomorrow is moving into its new corporate headquarters. The 17,000-square-foot property that the company has been renovating for nine months also will be the site of a new warehouse, which the company hopes to complete this year.

Mandy Jones, vice president of Family Pharmacy, said that in mid-2011, the company purchased a foreclosed property, which formerly housed a real estate company and an insurance firm at 4101 N. Highway NN, for its new corporate office and warehouse.

Jones said Family Pharmacy has outgrown its current 6,000-square-foot corporate office about two miles away from the new location, and the relocation also would allow its information technology department and store development team to be under one roof. Currently, Family Pharmacy leases three offices in Ozark and Nixa.

"We've basically been on top of each other for a while now," Jones said, noting two employees are coming on board with the move and that 20 employees would work in the new headquarters. "We've been spread out for too long, and it will be much easier to function to have everything all close together."

Work on six of the building's seven suites has been completed by B.J. Jones, Family Pharmacy's director of store development.  Ozark-based Torgerson Design Partners is architect for the project.

Once work on the seventh suite is completed, which Mandy Jones estimated at three to four months, Family Pharmacy will begin construction of the new warehouse on three acres of land adjacent to the building.

Jones said the warehouse would replace its current warehouse being leased in Ozark. B.J. Jones again will serve as general contractor for the project, and the company likely will hire the same architect, Mandy Jones said.

To date, Family Pharmacy has spent roughly $500,000, and it expects to spend between $1.5 million and $3 million when the project, including the warehouse, is completed, Jones said.

Family Pharmacy, which has about 300 employees, was launched in 1977 by Lynn Morris. The company has 24 retail pharmacies, two home medical supply stores and two nursing home pharmacies in southern Missouri.[[In-content Ad]]
