Springfield-based Family Medical Walk-In Clinics has opened its first office outside of Missouri.
A clinic in Springdale, Ark., opened Dec. 1, marking the fifth location under the Family Medical Walk-In Clinics banner.
The company, specializing in walk-in urgent care, operates clinics in south and north Springfield, Nixa and Republic.
Its physicians, physicians’ assistants, and family nurse practitioners provide emergency medicine, internal medicine, family practice and orthopedics.
Expansion into Arkansas was on the docket for much of this year, said Brian Casey, office administrator.
“There is a lot of business going on with the Wal-Mart headquarters, Tyson Foods and other companies,” Casey said. “There is a lot of growth potential and need for patient care.”
Officials at Family Medical Walk-In Clinics expect to see more than 15,000 patients in Arkansas next year, and Casey said the Rogers and Fayetteville markets also are under consideration.
The Springfield clinics are projected to record 55,000 patient visits this year, slightly down from 2009, Casey said.
Emergency room physician Daniel Burke started Family Medical Walk-In Clinics 14 years ago, and the company now employs more than 100.[[In-content Ad]]
