The Montclair Retirement Community is hosting the fund-raiser 1–4 p.m. at 1000 E. Montclair in Springfield.
Admission is free, and coupons for activities and food will be given for each nonperishable food or personal hygiene item donated. All donations go to Crosslines, an emergency food pantry and project of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks. Additional coupons are two for $1 and can be purchased the day of the event.
Activities include face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, a bungee run, games, music and prizes.
Montclair’s goal is to collect 2,500 items for Crosslines, which provides food for an average of 35 families each day. Since Hurricane Katrina, they have aided 93 refugees from Mississippi and Louisiana.
The event is sponsored by The Montclair, Oxford HealthCare, The Foot Doctors, Arnold Vision, OMS, UMB Bank and Springfield Trust Co. Food and beverages will be donated by Andy’s Frozen Custard, McAlister’s Deli, Price Cutter, Smillie’s IGA, CiCi’s Pizza and Culligan Water.
The Montclair is accepting donations until Monday.
