The Department of Justice announced Family Dollar has agreed to pay nearly $42 million related to a rodent infestation at the company’s West Memphis, Arkansas, distribution center.
Family Dollar also pleaded guilty to holding consumer products such as food and drugs in the warehouse under insanitary conditions, according to the DOJ.
"When consumers go to the store, they have the right to expect that the food and drugs on the shelves have been kept in clean, uncontaminated conditions," said Acting Associate Attorney General Benjamin C. Mizer.
