Construction has started to rebuild the Fall Creek Steak and Catfish House at 997 State Highway 165 in Branson.

The restaurant burned to the ground in August from a reported electrical wiring problem in the ceiling. Nolan and Babette Fogle, of Fogle Enterprises Inc. own and operate the steakhouse.

Fogle said more stringent Branson building codes resulted in designing a slightly smaller version of the previous restaurant.

“It will be about 11,000 square feet as opposed to the old restaurant with more than 13,000 square feet,” Fogle said.

He said the 15-year-old restaurant was originally built in Taney County, but it was annexed into the city before he bought it four years ago.

The $1.1 million steakhouse, which formerly had cedar siding, is designed with a log cabin exterior and front porch. The seating is reduced from 468 to 400 to accommodate an expanded 750-square-foot gift shop. The new restaurant will have a loft that can seat 100 diners and a high-vaulted ceiling.

Fogle said the new facility will employ 35 to 40 employees, many of whom worked for the original steakhouse. Fogle said he found positions for many of the displaced employees at his four other restaurants in Branson: Peppercorns, Whippersnappers, Plantation Restaurant and Baldknobbers Restaurant.

Tom Treat of Treat Architects PC in Branson is the architect and Joe Killian, of Springfield, is the general contractor for the project.

Great Southern Bank of Springfield is the lender.

Fogle said he hopes to open the restaurant by year’s end.[[In-content Ad]]
