The 62-year-old will retire Aug. 31 to spend time with family and seek volunteer opportunities, Lloyd said in a news release. He will remain in Greene County.
Lloyd came to Springfield in 2004. Fair attendance set a record in Lloyd’s first year, and the 2007 fair saw an increase of 10,000 visitors over 2006.
“The board and our staff have accomplished a great deal in the past several years,” Lloyd said in the release. “My personal goal is to make my fifth Ozark Empire Fair the best year ever.”
Lloyd previously held positions as executive director of the Nebraska State Fair, executive director of facilities for the University of Montana and executive director of the Tulsa State Fair.
A search for Lloyd’s replacement will begin immediately, according to the release.
