Facebook bans cryptocurrency ads

Facebook is moving to ban ads that promote cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin.

The move is meant to prevent ads for what Facebook officials call “financial products and services frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices.”

According to a Facebook blog post, the ban covers promotions for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings and binary options.
