Facebook appoints Xiaomi exec to lead VR business

Former Xiaomi executive Hugo Barra has been hired by Facebook to lead its virtual reality initiatives.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Barra would serve as vice president of virtual reality in charge of the Oculus VR business the company acquired in 2014.

Barra recently left Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, saying the role as vice president in charge of global operations took a toll on his health.
