The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered the grounding of roughly 170 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft worldwide.
The decision comes after a mid-flight emergency in an Alaska Airlines flight resulted in a door plug blowing out.
"The FAA is requiring immediate inspections of certain Boeing 737 Max 9 planes before they can return to flight," said Mike Whitaker, FAA administrator.
