FAA allows Amazon to test drones in U.S.

Amazon has been given the go-ahead by the Federal Aviation Administration to test drones for "research and development and crew training," in the U.S., reports CNNMoney.

Until now, the online retailer could only test its deliveries-by-drone program in other countries.
 
Currently, the FAA only allows hobbyists or certain kinds of businesses, such as Realtors, to fly drones. Rules also state drones must avoid people and cannot drop things, hampering Amazon's plans to fly drones into neighborhoods and deposit purchases on doorsteps. But being allowed to begin tests is "huge news for Amazon," according to the report.
