Sharon L. Plummer, a graduate of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, is among five Houston, Texas-area artists whose works will be featured on an upcoming episode of the ABC TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
Plummer, who grew up in Joplin and still has family there, is a founding member of Mosaico–Society of Houston Mosaic Artists, according to a Missouri Southern news release. The group is providing a mosaic as part of a total home rebuilding project for the Beach family of Kemah, Texas, after Hurricane Ike severely damaged their home in late 2008.
Plummer earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Missouri Southern in 1976 and a Master of Business Administration in marketing from the University of Houston in 1985. She opened Plum Art Mosaics in Houston in 2002 after 17 years as a marketing manager with ExxonMobil in the Houston area, the release said. The episode featuring the Beach family is slated to air April 4.
Plummer is not the only person with Missouri ties to work with crews on the makeover show, which featured an Ozarks family last season. In July, the local building community rallied for a weeklong build that resulted in a new home for the Hampton family in Ash Grove. Springfield home builder Sam Clifton of Millstone Custom Homes led the build, which had participation of hundreds of area volunteers and support from numerous local companies. That episode aired in October.
This installment of Springfield Business Journal’s Architects & Engineers Project Report showcases 26 endeavors by area design and engineering professionals.
