Extreme Makeover: Home Edition coming to Joplin

Posted online
ABC has announced that its reality TV show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” will be filming a weeklong construction project in Joplin during the week of Oct. 19.

Nixa-based Millstone Custom Homes LLC has been dubbed the general contractor to lead the project. Details of the project are still being finalized, but members of the Extreme Makeover team have verified that it will entail multiple structures with the intention of helping as many victims of the May 22 tornado as possible. It has been estimated that more than 7,000 homes were destroyed by the tornado.

According to a news release from Millstone Custom Homes, the project is being developed with the goal of providing anchor construction that not only will directly benefit families in need, but also can provide the foundation for rebuilding an entire segment of the city’s housing stock.

“We are eager to assist those already making a difference on the ground in this great town by assisting in the recovery effort,” said Milan Vasic, senior producer for Extreme Makeover, in the release

In addition to Millstone Custom Homes, the Home Builders Association of Southwest Missouri will be working to organize as many local building professionals and volunteers to help with the project. Millstone is a member of HBA of Southwest Missouri, and was named 2010 builder member of the year by the HBA of Greater Springfield.
