ABC's reality TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will air its series finale tonight featuring a weeklong Joplin construction project filmed in October.

Springfield's Campbell 16 Cine will air the show on the big screen beginning at 6 p.m. tonight. Tickets to the free event are available at the theater, 4005 South Ave. A portion of concession proceeds will be donated to the Joplin Recovery Fund, which is administered by Community Foundation of the Ozarks and affiliate Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri Inc., according to a news release.

Nixa-based home builder Sam Clifton of Millstone Custom Homes LLC served as general contractor for the Joplin project, which built seven homes in seven days Oct. 19-26.

Roughly 9,000 volunteers responded to the May tornado to help build the homes, which ranged from 1,300 square feet to 1,500 square feet.

The May 22 EF-5 tornado left nearly 8,000 homes damaged or destroyed. As of the final week in December, at least half of Joplin property owners affected by the tornado had filed permits with the city to rebuild or repair their homes, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
