Extension available for Missouri employers' unemployment filings

Posted online
Missouri employers who were affected by the Jan. 12–14 ice storm can request a deadline extension for filing unemployment insurance tax reports and for paying contributions that were due at the end of January.

To be eligible, employers must be in the city of St. Louis or one of the 38 counties – including Greene, Christian, Dallas, Polk and Webster – declared federal disaster areas by President Bush on Jan. 15.

The deadline can be extended until Feb. 28. Employers must submit an extension request prior to or along with their fourth-quarter 2006 reports.

Written requests may be submitted to the address listed on the contribution and wage report or to PO Box 59, Attention: Employer Accounts Unit, Jefferson City, MO 65104.

Requests also may be submitted electronically at www.ustar.dolir.mo.gov/ustar.

Employers with questions may call the Division of Employment Security at (573) 751-1995.
