A National Labor Relations Board judge has ruled former Starbucks Corp. CEO Howard Schultz violated federal labor law by telling a barista in California who questioned the coffee chain's response to union organizing to "go work for another company."
The judge ruled Schultz’s comment made during a “listening tour” last year amounted to an illegal threat against the worker.
Since late 2021, workers at more than 360 U.S. Starbucks locations have reportedly voted to join unions. In response to allegations of widespread illegal union-busting from workers, Starbucks officials have denied the claims.
