Ex-CEO of rural Missouri hospital pleads guilty to conspiracy

The former CEO of a rural hospital in northeast Missouri pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud.

David Byrns, 62, previously led Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville. He lives in Florida, from where he ran the hospital.

Byrns agreed to a forfeiture judgment of $5.1 million related to charges the hospital submitted fraudulent claims for toxicology and blood testing.
