The Evangel University Business Department will begin offering a finance major during its fall semester.
“Evangel’s department of business has long offered a strong finance minor,” Glenn Bernet, academic dean, said in a news release. “Building upon that minor, with the addition of some courses, we were able to create a finance major that will meet the needs of our students.”
According to the business department
Web site, a finance major at the university prepares students "for careers such as corporate finance, banking, insurance and risk management, brokerage services, investment analysis, real estate, and financial consulting."
The addition of the major is one of the first changes to occur under leadership of Bernie Dana, who assumed the role of Evangel Business Department chairman March 1.
“We are excited about this opportunity to meet a demand from current and prospective students who want to specialize in finance-related careers,” Dana said in the release.
Missouri State University,
Drury University and
Ozarks Technical Community College also offer finance majors.
