Evangel to renovate dorm as part of construction campaign

Posted online

Evangel University is adding a dormitory renovation project to its ongoing construction campaign.

Renovation work at Grace Walther Hall, one of the oldest dorms on the Evangel campus, is scheduled to begin in December, according to a news release. A fall 2023 completion date is projected.

“The relative condition and size of Walther Hall make this a great first dorm renovation project,” said Michael Kolstad, Evangel chief of staff, in the release. “We recognize that living spaces are important to the overall college experience, and we look forward to making our residence halls, beginning with Walther, a fantastic place for our students as they experience life at Evangel.”

The work at Walther Hall includes a new HVAC system, renovated first- and second-floor lobbies, community areas, kitchenettes, new plumbing and shower stalls.

DeWitt & Associates Inc. is serving as general contractor for the project designed by nForm Architecture LLC, said Evangel spokesperson Erin Hedlun. The project's budget is roughly $5.5 million, she said.

Evangel's construction campaign, called Here. Now., also includes a new arena, fieldhouse and lighted intramural sports field, according to the release.
