Evangel University is set to break ground this month on a new multimillion-dollar residence hall.

The Springfield university has scheduled a 10:45 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony on April 25 for Daryl and Lois Flood Residence Hall, according to a news release. The price tag is estimated at $16.5 million, said Madison Redfearn, marketing specialist for Evangel.

The 57,816-square-foot residence hall is slated to be built on the current site of a parking lot between AGFinancial Arena and Valor Courts on the northwest side of the campus along Glenstone Avenue. The four-story building would house up to 224 students, with 116 rooms.

"Flood Hall will offer a wide range of amenities aimed at enhancing the student experience," officials said in the release, pointing to designated movie, prayer and study rooms and two outdoor terraces as examples.

Redfearn said via email that Williams Construction Co. is general contractor for the project designed by Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective. Construction is expected to be completed in July 2026 to allow students to move in that fall.

Flood Hall is named for Evangel donors Daryl and Lois Flood.

The new residence hall is part of Evangel's Here. Now capital campaign, which also includes AGFinancial Arena, a roughly $24 million project that debuted last year.
