Evangel University's Board of Administration has approved the addition of new accelerated master's degree programs.
The university will begin in fall 2010 offering five-year Bachelor of Science/Master of Science degree programs in counseling and clinical psychology, the school announced Wednesday.
High-performing students, with consent from their academic advisers, can begin on an accelerated track during their junior year, allowing them to complete both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in five years. Students take two summer terms of classes along with dual-credit courses during their senior year.
According to the release, the five-year program is ideal for students planning to pursue a career as a licensed professional counselor or a doctoral psychology program, since the master's degree will have been completed more quickly.
In addition to programs in clinical and counseling psychology, Evangel also offers graduate programs in educational leadership, organizational leadership, reading, school counseling and secondary teaching, according to the school's Web site. The school also partners with Missouri State University to offer accelerated master's degree programs in business, science and mathematics. [[In-content Ad]]
