Evangel University selected Springfield Police Department Lt. Todd Revell as its new director of public safety.
Revell, who started May 31 after working at SPD for 25 years, succeeds Roger Moore, a former local police training commander who served as director of public safety at Evangel the past two years.
Moore is moving to the role of director of Evangel’s criminal justice program, a job Bob Cirtin held for 24 years before being elected to the Greene County Commission, according to a news release issued yesterday.
Revell now leads a staff of 12 in the public safety office,
which provides around-the-clock security for the school and issues parking tickets and traffic citations. The department works directly with the Springfield Police Department.
A certified generalist and firearms instructor through the Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training Program, Revell has 20 certifications and has taught at the Springfield Police Department Academy. He earned a master’s in organizational leadership from Evangel in 2013 and also has a bachelor’s in criminal justice from Drury University.
“He has served the Springfield Police Department with distinction in numerous leadership and management capacities, and we look forward to his service to our students, faculty and staff,” said Sheri Phillips, vice president for student development at Evangel, in the release.
