European food delivery service Just Eat Takeaway signed on to purchase U.S. online food ordering company Grubhub for $7.3 billion.
The all-stock deal would value Grubhub at a 27% premium. As part of the deal, Grubhub founder and CEO Matt Maloney would join Just Eat Takeaway’s board and oversee North American operations.
The deal announcement puts an end to plans by Uber to buy Grubhub. People familiar with the matter told The New York Times the Uber-Grubhub discussions fell through over price and regulatory concerns.
