Europe getting a new stock exchange giant

The London Stock Exchange, one of the world's oldest with a history stretching back more than 300 years, has agreed to join forces with Deutsche Boerse, which operates the main German stock market in Frankfurt.

The all-share transaction is effectively a takeover by Deutsche Boerse, according to CNNMoney.

The deal is slated to close by the end of 2016 or in first quarter of 2017.
