EU fines Google $5B

The European Union slapped a $5 billion fine on Alphabet-owned Google.

The antitrust fine follows allegations that Google unfairly favored its own Android mobile operating system by forcing smartphone makers to pre-install Google apps.

Google plans to appeal the ruling, according to officials with the company.
