The European Union has issued a combined fine of $800 million against Apple and Meta.
The companies have been accused of violating European antitrust law via the Digital Markets Act. Officials with the European Commission said the companies have failed to give “consumers the choice of a service that uses less of their personal data."
Apple's fine is $570 million, with $230 million imposed against Meta.
