EU accuses Google of abusing Internet search dominance

The European Union's competition regulator on Wednesday accused Google of illegally abusing its dominance of the Internet search market in Europe by favoring its own comparison-shopping product when consumers shop online.

According to USA Today, the case could cost Google billions in fines or force the company to make significant changes in its business in Europe.

Though Google officials weren't immediately availble for comment, a leaked memo indicates the company has a strong case against the charges.
