The event, presented by Springfield-based Global Assist Network, begins at 7 p.m. at the University Plaza Hotel, 333 John Q. Hammons Parkway.
Wolde-Giorgis and Taye Atske-Selassie, consulate general of Ethiopia to the United States, will be received by local and state officials. Wolde-Giorgis then will give an address on his direction for Ethiopia and current events affecting the country.

All proceeds from the event will benefit development work in Ethiopia.
Wolde-Giorgis also is a speaker at the nonprofit organization’s two-day conference on Ethiopia that begins Friday.
