The Environmental Protection Agency has recommended approval of a petition from a group of Midwest governors that would allow year-round sales of E15 gasoline.
If approved, year-round sales would start in 2024.
Governors from the Midwest, including Missouri, have petitioned for the rule change. The fuel type has not historically been allowed for sale during summer months because of smog, though research reportedly has found that E15 is not a significant contributor, according to media reports.
