EPA: KC-area business sold illegal 'defeat devices'

Posted online

The Environmental Protection Agency reported Kansas City-area company Voodoo Diesel admitted to selling illegal “defeat devices."

Voodoo Diesel, based in Raymore, violated the federal Clean Air Act by using the devices that render clean air emission control devices ineffective, federal officials said. The company was ordered to destroy all the illegal devices. A fine was not assessed because of the company's inability to pay, according to the EPA.

The EPA also announced Banghart Diesel Performance of Wahoo, Nebraska, and Black Widow Diesel of Center Point, Iowa, sold "defeat devices."
