Downtown women’s clothing retailer Envy Boutique plans to shutter operations after a liquidation sale.

Jordan Miller, the Springfield store’s assistant manager, on June 5 confirmed the closure.

Miller said the 323 E. Walnut St. store, which employs around five people, will close after its inventory is sold out.

“We don’t actually have a set date. We’re just really trying to get everything moved out,” she said, noting the store has five large clothing racks and merchandise along the walls to be sold. “We’re thinking the end of June.”

Envy Boutique is owned by the Mercurio family. They opened the Springfield store in 2008 and also operate one each in Columbia and Lawrence, Kansas. Miller said the other stores aren’t closing.

Steve Mercurio, one of the owners, said Envy Boutique began retail operations in 2005, and had a fourth location, in Manhattan, Kansas, that closed three years ago.
