A Kansas City-based civil engineering firm with a presence in Springfield for over a decade is in expansion mode.
Trekk Design Group LLC announced it is expanding in the Queen City and Fenton, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Economic Development. The planned total investment is roughly $1.9 million, and the company intends to create 77 new jobs between the two cities.
Additional details on the company’s investment and how many jobs will be created in Springfield were not noted in the release, and Trekk officials didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment by deadline.
Headquartered in Kansas City where it was established in 2002, Trekk opened its first St. Louis-area office in 2010 and Springfield office in 2013, according to the release. Today, the company also operates in Columbia with additional locations in Arkansas, Kansas, Illinois and Nebraska. The company’s more than 200 employees include civil engineers with various specializations, geographic information system analysts and asset managers, construction inspectors, surveyors and field technicians.
“Expanding our Fenton office and opening our new Springfield location reinforces Trekk’s long-term commitment to the communities we serve across Missouri,” said Kimberly Robinett, Trekk’s CEO and managing partner, in the release. “By growing our footprint, we’re investing not only in these communities, but also in the talented people who live and work here. This strengthens our ability to deliver smart, reliable infrastructure solutions across Missouri.”
Trekk provides engineering design and consulting services to municipalities, public agencies and private developers across the Midwest, according to the release.
“We’re excited to see Trekk Design Group expand in Springfield,” said Matt Morrow, president of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, in the release. “This investment and the new jobs it brings highlight the strength of our local workforce and reinforce Springfield’s position as a great place for innovative companies to grow.”
For the expansion, Trekk Design Group will benefit from the Missouri Works program, which awards withholdings or tax credits in exchange for job creation.
“We applaud Trekk Design Group’s commitment to our state as it invests and creates jobs in both Fenton and Springfield,” said Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe in the release. “Expansions like these are providing communities with real economic benefits while underscoring our standing as a leading business destination.”
