Hood-Rich Inc. Architects and Engineers was civil, electrical and structural engineer and architect for Doling Family Center in Doling Park at 301 E. Talmage. Smith-Goth Engineers Inc. was plumbing and mechanical engineer. R.E. Smith Construction Inc. was general contractor for the 44,000-square-foot, approximately $4.7 million structure, which was completed in December. The facility houses a 25,500-square-foot family center that includes a walking and jogging track, a full gymnasium, administrative offices and a community room. It also houses Northview Center, which is an 18,500-square-foot wing providing space for senior programs, including the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging's nutrition program. The wing has a large multipurpose room, a full commercial kitchen and meeting rooms. The building is built on two levels to accommodate the sloping site. Materials were selected to complement the stone used on existing park pavilions.
