GeoEngineers Inc. is the engineer for repairs completed in 2011 for the foundation of the Gasconade River Bridge in Laclede County for the Missouri Department of Transportation. The general contractor is Nicholson Construction Co. MoDOT became concerned with voids encountered beneath the bridge foundation during construction of the I-44 Gasconade River Bridge deck and closed the bridge to traffic. GeoEngineers’ services were engaged to assess the problem, acquiring and interpreting geophysical data and using an integrated approach with geotechnical borings and geophysical data to characterize subsurface stratigraphy. Because the voids were limited, the project team recommended pressure grouting to fill them and remedy the problem. Total project cost was $164,890, and GeoEngineers’ portion was $44,190.
