Genesis Design Group is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer for the 11,000-square-foot renovation of and addition to Exeter R-VI Schools’ combined elementary and high school campus. Dake Wells Architecture Inc. is the architect for the project, and Jones & Associates Structural Engineers LLC is the structural engineer. Dake Wells also is handling interior design. Wells Fargo is the lender for the approximately $2.2 million project, which provides a multipurpose space to be used as a cafeteria, a practice gym and a performance hall. The space is located next to a new music room and stage, and it contains a folded wood element that can optimize acoustics when the area is being used for musical performances. Light fixtures will serve as “house lighting” for theatrical performances but will be able to withstand impact from basketballs and volleyballs. Mechanical systems incorporate energy recovery, with two make-up air units that will introduce fresh air and a siphonic roof drainage system routed without slope. The project includes the renovation of a 5,500-square-foot adjacent building to provide three classrooms, an office suite and a new entrance for the elementary school. Completion is slated for August 2008.
