Energizer agreed to pay $2 billion to buy Rayovac batteries and other products from Spectrum Brands.
"Through this transaction, we are making progress towards repositioning ourselves with an increased focus on our remaining businesses of hardware and home improvement, global auto care, and pet, home and garden," Spectrum CEO Andreas Rouve said in a statement.
Through the purchase expected to close by year's end, Energizer picks up Rayovac and Varta alkaline, hearing aid and nickel metal recharegeable batteries.
