Empire sells Internet service provider

Empire District Electric Co. this morning announced it has sold Fast Freedom Inc., an Internet service provider.

The Joplin-based utility sold Fast Freedom, which also does Web site hosting, to Granby, Mo.-based Stouffer Communications Inc. Officials would not disclose a sale price.

The sale is not expected to have a material effect on Empire’s earnings, cash flows or results of operations in the third quarter, according to a company news release.

Shares (NYSE: EDE) closed Monday at $23.37, compared to a 52-week range of $21.09 to $26.13.[[In-content Ad]]
