Last edited 9:56 a.m., May 4, 2015Empire Bank will soon offer Apple Pay as an option for customers.
Empire Bank credit and debit cards could be added to the Apple Pay service, allowing users to pay with Apple devices, according to a news release.
Empire spokesman Andrew Tasset declined to say when the service would be available but noted a date likely would be announced in the next few weeks.
“We are very excited to be among some of the first financial institutions in our area to offer … Apple Pay to our customers,” Empire President and CEO Russ Marquart said in the release.
Empire is a charter of Jefferson City-based holding company Central Bancompany, which holds some $10 billion in assets and operates around 140 branches in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and Oklahoma, according to the release.
Apple Pay participants include Bank of America, U.S. Bank, Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Foot Locker, McDonald’s, Panera Bread, Toys R Us and Target, according to
