The Joplin utility has asked the commission to grant it variances from certain requirements of the commission’s rules. The rules are in place to ensure Missouri’s electric utilities go through an adequate planning process that protects the public interest, according to the commission.
Empire is expected to file in compliance with the rules in September.
Applications to participate in the case are due Aug. 9 to the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, PO Box 360, Jefferson City, MO, 65102.
