Elvis Presley brand sold to Marilyn Monroe firm

Posted online
The king of rock and roll meets the blonde bombshell – sort of.

According to a BBC News report, the Elvis Presley brand was sold to the company that handles the image of Marilyn Monroe. While terms of the deal were not disclosed, last year, earnings from Presley's estate reached an estimated $55 million, second only in posthumous worth to Michael Jackson. The revenue is bolstered by careful image marketing and his former home and current tourist attraction, Graceland.

As part of the deal, Elvis's daughter, Lisa Marie, will continue to own the Memphis, Tenn.-based Graceland.

New Presley brand owner, Authentic Brands group, said it plans to increase Elvis' popularity and fan base worldwide, according to the report.
