Elliott, Robinson & Co. LLP announced today it closed on two mergers within the past month.
The merging firms are Gary Fenton CPA PC in Springfield and Lindy H. Maus CPA in Republic, according to a news release.
Spokeswoman Brenda Raynor said the accounting firms’ employees - seven from Maus’ firm and five from Fenton’s - now are employed by Elliott, Robinson. Financial terms were undisclosed for the deals, which grew Elliott, Robinson’s staff numbers to 47 from 35.
The most recent deal was signed Dec. 1 with Maus, who owns the Republic firm founded in 1980. Maus, whose succession plan included selling off her firm, will continue to lead the Republic office as an arm of Elliott, Robinson, Raynor said.
“It was a matter of the right timing to align with Lindy,” said Bob Helm, managing partner at Elliott, Robinson, in a news release. “For 35 years, Lindy has predominantly built her business from the best source, referrals from clients.
“Her excellent reputation for quality and personalized client services in Republic is admirable, so when approached about the merger, we were honored.”
Gary Fenton CPA agreed to merge into Elliott, Robinson Nov. 16. Fenton, who founded the company in 2000, said the agreement with Elliott, Robinson was a good fit.
“This merger enables us to broaden our existing specializations and extend (Elliott, Robinson’s) depth of talent and service offerings to our clients,” he said in the release.
Raynor said Fenton’s employees moved into Elliott, Robinson’s Springfield office from their previous home at 4650 S. National Ave.
The mergers come a year after Elliott, Robinson moved to the TerraGreen Office Park, 3720 E. Seminole St. Prior to moving in to its new
$3 million headquarters, the company spent 40 years in Plaza Towers. Elliott, Robinson produces some $4 million in revenue a year, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
For SBJ’s upcoming CEO Roundtable, Helm said Elliott, Robinson has plans to expand its office at TerraGreen.
