The EFCO Corporation, which has its headquarters in Monett, provided Southwest Missouri State University with the funds for an endowed scholarship in its industrial management scholarship, according to an announcement from the university.
EFCO is a national manufacturer of aluminum window, entrance, storefront and curtain wall systems for commercial architectural applications.
"We want to provide university students with an opportunity to obtain a degree in industrial management. There is a real need for professionals in the manufacturing field," said Jay Triplett, vice president of manufacturing for EFCO.
Added Scott Amos, PhD, head of the department of industrial management, "The students currently enrolled in the program, as well as all future students, are engaging in learning enterprise
management, increasing their upward mobility for careers in construction and manufacturing. This scholarship shows that businesses like EFCO are recognizing and investing in our program and our students."
SMSU's industrial management department is comprised of approximately 250 students.
Industrial management, one of the department's two undergraduate majors, is specifically designed to fill the needs of the construction and manufacturing industries.
