EFCO Corp. receives aid for plant expansion

Posted online
The state is stepping in with financial assistance for Monett-based EFCO Corp. and its $2.1 million expansion project.

The custom manufacturing company broke ground last month on a 67,000-square-foot expansion to its Monett plant, 1000 County Road. The expansion, expected to be complete by November, will house a new extrusion press and a second glass fabrication line, and add up to 200 jobs.

“This addition is a key component to the company's strategic growth plan and a response to the increasing demand for a wide range of quality products from a single source supplier,” said Chris Fuldner, EFCO CEO, in a company news release.

Gov. Matt Blunt announced Tuesday that the state is offering a comprehensive incentives package to aid the expansion. The package comprises a $500,000 Active Fund Loan to cover capital expenses and a $650,000 grant for the city of Monett for infrastructure to accommodate the expansion.

The loan was approved by the Department of Economic Development and will be used to purchase new machinery and equipment.

Meanwhile, the grant, awarded through the Community Development Block Grant program, will be spent on city street improvements and the relocation of electrical lines near the plant.

The DED also approved EFCO's participation in the Missouri Quality Jobs program, with benefits beginning when program eligibility requirements are met. The program provides a tax incentive for the creation of new jobs that pay wages at or above the county-wage level and offer health insurance benefits.

EFCO Corp. is a Missouri-based custom manufacturer of commercial and architectural aluminum products such as windows, storefront framing, entrances and curtain wall systems.
