Efactory debuts new internship program

Missouri State University's Efactory is launching a new internship program.

The initiative, called the entrepreneurship intern pilot program, is available to Efactory incubator members and MSU students, according to a news release. The program seeks to pair MSU students with startup companies for a semester, with the Great Game of Business open-book style management system incorporated into the experience.

Applications for the program's first cohort are being accepted through Jan. 10 on the Efactory's website. The first semester of the program is slated to start in early 2025, and after applications reopen in the spring, the pilot will run through 2026.

“Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects, develop essential business skills and network with industry professionals, all while preparing them for successful careers in the business world,” said Emily Denniston, director of community engagement and operations at the Efactory, in the release.

The Efactory is financially supporting the MSU student interns through grant funding. Officials pointed to a $500,000 grant this year from the Missouri Technology Corp.'s Missouri Building Entrepreneurial Capacity program.

The Hatch Foundation is serving as 2025 program sponsor, and the GGOB aspect of the initiative is designed to help participants build their business skills, according to the release.
