Edward Jones ranks among 'Best Companies to Work For' for sixth year

Posted online

Financial services firm Edward Jones was named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For in America" by Fortune magazine. The listing appeared in the Jan. 12 edition of Fortune magazine. It is the sixth consecutive year the firm has achieved the honor. According to an Edward Jones news release, the firm captured the No. 4 spot in the ranking.

Edward Jones has had Top 10 finishes for the last five years, including consecutive No. 1 finishes in 2002 and 2003.

In naming the firm to the No. 4 spot, Fortune's editors noted continued company growth and not a single layoff in 34 years.

"Consistently making it onto such a distinguished list is quite an accomplishment," said Edward Jones Managing Partner John Bachmann in the release. "We can be especially proud because this ranking, in large part, is the result of how associates view Edward Jones. We believe the climate within our firm has a ripple effect on our clients and on the communities we serve."

Ranking on Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For" is employee-driven, with two-thirds of the scoring based on how randomly selected employees respond to an anonymous survey designed to measure the quality of workplace culture. The remainder of the score is based on an in-depth analysis of the companies' benefits and practices.

Firmwide, Edward Jones serves nearly 6 million clients, offering a variety of investments including certificates of deposit, taxable and nontaxable bonds, stocks and mutual funds. Edward Jones has more than 9,000 offices in the United States and through its affiliates in Canada and the United Kingdom. Plans call for expansion to 10,000 offices in 2004.

Edward Jones ranks first on SBJ's 2004 "Springfield Area's Largest Stock & Bond Brokerages," reporting 63 offices in the local market, with 65 local licensed brokers and 132 total local staff.
