The U.S. Department of Education announced it would resume collections on defaulted federal student loans.
Collections, which have been paused for over five years, are scheduled to resume May 5.
“American taxpayers will no longer be forced to serve as collateral for irresponsible student loan policies,” U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said.
