Education Department to cancel $6B in loans

The U.S. Education Department reached a settlement in a lawsuit brought against it related to student loans.

With the settlement, the Education Department will approve borrower defense claims for 200,000 borrowers.

That effectively cancels $6 billion in student loans for institutions the department determined engaged in misconduct.
