Sears Chairman Eddie Lampert submitted a revised $5 billion bid in an attempt to save the company from liquidation, a source familiar with the matter told CNBC.
Lampert's previous $4.4 billion bid was shot down by the company.
Lampert's bid includes the assumption of tax and vendor bills incurred since the company filed for bankruptcy in October.
